“Most Indian mothers are like Eela”: Kajol

The superstar Kajol who turned 44 recently, is making her foray once again on Bollywood with ‘Helicopter Eela’. After some impressive posters, the makers have now released the trailer for the movie.

The movie is about a single mother Eela and her son and how their lives change when the mother decides to pursue her education after 22 years, but the problem is, she choose the same college where her son studies and he tries to save himself from embarrassment. This unique story about mother and son relationship also deals with the helicopter parenting, possessive mothers and teenagers struggling for personal space.

Kajol shines as Eela, and the son’s role is convincingly played by the national-award-winning actor Riddhi Sen.

The film is produced by Ajay Devgn and is directed by Pradeep Sarkar. The film also stars Neha Dhupia as Padma, a complete contrast character to Kajol’s Eela.

Interestingly, Neha Dhupia was first spotted by Sarkar; thus she debuted in a music video for Euphoria’s 1999 single Sha Na Na Na Na. Her Bollywood debut came in 2003 in Ajay Devgn’s Qayamat.

During the trailer launch, Kajol spoke about her character Eela-

“Most Indian mothers are like Eela. We are all Eela essentially; we are all obsessed with our children, albeit in varying degrees. Everything that Eela does is because she loves her son and he does everything from a place of love too. So there is no one right or wrong in this film,” she added.

The movie is all set to release on September 7.
