Age is just a number proves 89 YO granny who started a website to sell potli bags

If you think that you are too old to chase your dreams, here’s Latika Chakravorty for you!

The 89 years old from Assam who was married to a survey officer has started a website to sell her beautiful potli bags online.

Since she liked to sew, she started to make clothes for her kids. As her kids grew up, she began to use her creative skills to make toys.

It was only four years back, she started to make these cute little potli bags with a drawstring to open and close it. She utilises old kurtas, dupattas to make bags that will match the ethnic wear.

She doesn’t remember the exact number of bags she made, but it’s definitely over 300, she says. She’s known for gifting these lovely bags to her friends and family.

The idea to go online was given by her grandson, Joy Chakravorty, who lives in Germany, was visiting his parents and was quite impressed with her grandmother’s works. He instantly proposed to set up an online venture for her. He started a website and named it “Latika’s bags”.

The bags, which are priced between Rs. 150 to Rs. 1500 is slowly gaining in popularity, and she is receiving orders from different parts of the world. Surprised by the response, the octogenarian is unsure of keeping up with the demands.

Well, for those of you who thought of quitting your passion, this grandmother’s story is an inspiration!
