A woman gave birth in the train at the Egmore station on Tuesday evening. The mother and child were rushed to the hospital where their condition is said to be stable.
Swarnalatha, 26, was travelling on the Howrah-Kanyakumari Express along with her husband. She was reportedly in an advanced stage of pregnancy. At around 7.45 pm when the train crossed Chennai Beach Railway Station, she got labour pains.
The doctors immediately attended her, closed the shutter for a while, the train was stopped as well. After giving birth, the family was taken to Anna Nagar hospital.
