Smriti Mandhana wins ICC women cricketer of the year award!

The Indian opener Smriti Mandhana won the Rachael Heyhoe Flint award for the ICC Women cricketer of the year, ICC Women ODI player of the year.

The left-hander is also named in both ODI and T20I teams of the year.

From January 1 to December 31, 2018, Smriti has scored 669 runs at an average of 66.9 in 12 ODIs. In T20Is, she scored 622 runs at a strike-rate of 130.7 in 25 T20Is.

She becomes the second Indian to be named as the player of the year after Jhulan Goswami in 2007.

On the other hand, Australian wicket-keeper Alyssa Healy has been named as the ICC T20 player of the year. The Australian opener is in an excellent form and played a vital role in the World Cup T20I victory for Australia in West Indies recently. Healy scored 225 runs in six matches in the World Cup.

The England Teenager Sophie Ecclestone has been voted the ICC Women’s emerging player of the year. The left-arm spinner took 17 wickets in 14 T20Is and 18 wickets in nine ODIs.
