Padma Shri Award for a Tea-seller in Odisha. A true Inspiration!

It is said that if there is a good, there is also bad. If there are bad people then there are good people around us. If there are Selfish people, then there are Selfless people. It is hard to find someone with selflessness. And when we find one, there are people to criticize him/her. But baring all those things and fighting for what is right and good is a hard quality to find on someone. But we have one such example who worked and helped those who are in need of help. Devarapalli Prakash Rao.

He offers more than just a cup of tea in his humble stall in Cuttack, Odisha. He is a contributor to society. He helps to provide education for the Underprivileged kids. His half income goes in running a school which he started – Asha O Ashwasana. In this school, he teaches 50 to70 students from 4 to 9 age.

Not only that, he is a constant blood donor and donated blood for more than 200 times since 1978. He also provides food for slum kids. His humbleness and selfless attitude paid him with India’s biggest Honored Award – Padma Shri Award.

Upon receiving the news, he said,

“Yesterday at around 11:30 pm, I got a call from Delhi saying that I am being conferred with the fourth-highest civilian award, the Padma Shri. I don’t deserve such a big award, but if people want this award for me, it will be an inspiration for others.”

A man who was forced to leave his studies at the age of 10, today became an inspiration for many. He didn’t expect anything in return but he believes that this award will be an inspiration for those who want to achieve or dream high. He also said,

“It will be a lesson to youth who dream of becoming big personalities. If you put in your best efforts continuously on doing your duty, the world will recognize you one day.”
