India’s World Cup squad to be announced on April 15

BCCI is all set to announce the World Cup squad on April 15, in Mumbai. The meeting is likely to be attended by the Indian team captain Virat Kohli who will be leading his IPL side Royal Challengers Bangalore against Mumbai Indians on the same night in Mumbai.

Virat Kohli is going through a rough patch with his IPL team as RCB have lost all the matches they played so far. Even before that, India failed to grab the series against Australia at home which they lost 3-2 after winning the first two matches. The Indian captain has made it clear that the World Cup Squad selection will not be based on IPL performances and the dressing room is not “panicking” after the series loss against Australia. He added that the squad will be almost the same though there might be condition-based changes.

MSK Prasad, chairman of India’s selection committee, has already revealed that the squad for the World Cup will almost be the same and might have a “last-minute” change for a position or two.

Though the final date for the squad announcement is April 23, Prasad added that announcing the squad early would give the team to get into the right mind space.
