Radha Ravi on sexist remarks on Nayanthara: Why should I apologise? Did I commit a serious crime?

During the trailer launch of Nayanthara’s Kolaiyuthir Kaalam, Radha Ravi’s sexist comments against Nayanthara made the headlines with several Kollywood personalities condemned his distasteful speech and warned him of dire consequences.

Now, the actor is at it again. Recently, he was invited as the chief guest for the launch of a short film, ‘Enakku Innoru Mugam Iruku.’ During his speech, he stated that he hasn’t committed a heinous crime to apologise to Nayanthara.

The veteran actor began his speech by saying, “Yes, I had said that if I had hurt anyone, I would like to convey my regrets to them (Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan). I never apologised to anyone and it doesn’t run in my blood. Why should I apologise? Did I commit a serious crime?”

Radha Ravi also added that if his speech was not in a good taste, the press people who attended the Kolayuthir Kaalam event would have warned him there itself. “Today, I’m getting loud cheers from audience and media people. I got a similar reception that day as well. If I speak the truth, people will eventually support me,” he quipped.

After the Kolayuthir Kaalam controversy, KJR Studios, director Milind Rau and several others stated that they wouldn’t hire Radha Ravi for their films anymore. However, he remains unfazed with all the warnings.

He said, “Director Perarasu asked me not to be afraid of the recent controversy. Why should I be afraid of someone? A few say that I would no longer act in cinema. No one can stop me. What will happen if I decide to act in drama and stage plays?”

Radha Ravi also failed to acknowledge that he is at fault. He went on to add, “Whatever happened to me is not even a big issue, it’s all temporary. If my speech had enough truth in it, accept it, otherwise, ignore it.”
