Court extends stay on Chinmayi’s Dubbing Union ban

The singer, voice actor and an active ME TOO campaigner, Chinmayi was banned from the Tamilnadu Dubbing Union on November 17, last year, without a show cause notice, citing non-payment of ‘subscription fees’ for the past two years.

This meant that the actress couldn’t work on the industry as the membership was essential for the dubbing artists.

In a subsequent dubbing union meeting, it was announced that Chinmayi could be reinstated into the union if she were to pay 1.5 lakh rupees, tender an apology letter and submit a re-application to be added as a member.

Chinmayi took the issue to the court and the court had placed an interim stay on her ban from the Tamilnadu Dubbing Union on March 25.

Now, the court has extended the stay on the ban which means that she is allowed to work in Tamil movies.
